MATSOL 2024

At MATSOL 2024, our team shared findings from our ongoing research on how art educators support multilingual learners in their classrooms. We talked about what’s working, what challenges teachers face, and what kind of support can make a difference.

Meeting Dr. Django Paris !!

I got to meet Dr. Django Paris (the king of Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy) at an event by Phillips Academy in Lawrence, MA.

AERA 2024

We presented our roundtable at AERA 2024 on the real-life experiences of international students adjusting to life in the U.S.—think language struggles, visa stress, homesickness, and the creative ways they support themselves when universities fall short.

AERA 2024

At AERA 2024, we presented as part of an awesome symposium on supporting multilingual learners beyond the “core” subjects. Our piece focused on how visual art teachers are working with immigrant MLs—and why arts education deserves just as much attention when we talk about equity. Loved being part of this powerful conversation!

UML Student Research and Community Engagement Symposium 2024

When your research gets recognized and you celebrate it with some well-deserved goofiness 😄

AEA 2023

At AEA 2023, we shared our reflections as student evaluators diving into real-world projects through experiential learning. This panel was all about learning by doing!

TESOL 2022

At TESOL 2022, I presented a case study on how a novice high school math teacher used (and sometimes struggled with!) sheltered instruction for multilingual learners. We talked about how SEI needs to go beyond vocab and really center language and culture.

And of course, I couldn’t leave without snapping a few too many pics with the TESOL sign! 😄
